La Bichota got her flowers! On Thursday, Premio Lo Nuestro celebrated the best in Latin music at its annual awards show, welcoming unexpected collaborations onstage and awarding trophies to both newcomers and leaders of Spanish-language music across genres. Leading the wins of the evening was Karol G, who — despite not being in the audience — won the most awards of the evening with nine. Along with four genre-specific trophies, the Mañana Será Bonito star won awards for Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Remix of the Year for “Una Noche en Medellín” with Cris Mj and Ryan Castro, and Tour of the Year. Following closely behind in number of wins were Shakira, Peso Pluma, Carin León, and Maluma, who each earned four awards. Shakira’s “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53” with Bizarrap won the trophy for Song of the Year, while Peso Pluma won the trophy for Best New Male Artist. Premio Lo Nuestro featured several special performances throughout the night. Machine Gun Kelly joined Don Omar for a duet of “Danza Kuduro,” Carin Leon performed “The One (Pero No Como Yo)” with Kane Brown, and Banda MS sang “Y Que Soporten” with Gloria Trevi. The evening also honored some Latin music legends: Ana Bárbara won the Lifetime Achievement Award, Don Omar earned the Global Icon Award, and Olga Tañon got the show’s special Excellence Award.
