According to legal documents obtained by Rolling Stone, Anti-Flag’s lead singer Justin Sane is preparing to leave the United States due to a sexual assault lawsuit filed against him.
The lawsuit, filed by Kristina Sarhadi in the Northern District Court of New York, alleges that Sane, also known as Justin Geever, is intentionally avoiding being served with the sexual assault lawsuit brought against him in November 2023.
Sarhadi claims that Geever recently sold his Pittsburgh home and transferred funds to an Irish bank account to conceal his assets. With plans to flee to Europe in the coming days, the suit suggests that Geever, who holds dual citizenship and an Irish passport, is attempting to evade the legal proceedings.
Following unsuccessful settlement negotiations, Sarhadi is seeking permission for Geever’s sister Mary to accept service on his behalf, as his attorney Michael Johnson has reportedly been unresponsive.
Rolling Stone has contacted Geever’s attorney for a response, but previous attempts to reach Geever directly have been unsuccessful.
New York therapist and coach Sarhadi, formerly a fan of Anti-Flag, alleged that she was sexually assaulted by Geever in 2010. She recounted her experience on a podcast, describing it as a traumatic and violent encounter. Despite not naming Geever in the podcast, his identity was quickly deduced by fans, leading to the band dissolving and removing their social media presence.
