Gary Clark Jr. is ready to play some songs from his upcoming album JPEG RAW on the road. On Tuesday, the musician announced dates for his North American tour in celebration of his first LP since 2019.
The musician will commence his tour on May 8, stopping in cities such as St. Louis, Chicago, and Boston along the way. He’ll close the run of shows in August in Los Angeles. Tickets will go on sale for the general public on Feb. 2 at 10 a.m. local time, but fans with presale access can purchase them on Jan. 31 at 10 a.m. local time.
The new tour dates come several days after he released a “sampler” of the songs featured on the album, including “Maktub,” “Hyperwave,” “This Is Who We Are” featuring Naala, and the album’s title track. JPEG RAW will be released on March 22.
Before dropping the album, Clark Jr. will preview “Maktub” while performing on The Tonight Show. A press release teased that the new LP will showcase the musician’s “ever-expanding creative palate” and his “eclectic musical universe.”
JPEG RAW is the follow-up to 2019’s This Land, which earned Clark Jr. three Grammy Awards, including Best Rock Song and Performance for the LP’s title track, along with Best Contemporary Blues Album. This Land features songs such as “Low Down Rolling Stone” and “I Walk Alone.”
