Nikki Goeser, the CPRC’s Executive Director, shared about the twentieth annual National Stalking Awareness Month at Townhall. The month raises awareness about what stalking is, its dangers, and how to protect yourself from it. Stalking, according to the CDC, affects one in three women and one in six men.
The director says she’s a victim of stalking, and that despite existing laws meant to protect victims, they’re not always effective.
She comments on how it’s unfair that victims have to significantly alter their lives to avoid stalkers and advocates for victims’ right to self-defense. She carries a handgun to protect herself and has encouraged her state legislature to pass a bill that provides a Lifetime Order of Protection to crime victims.
